Trains

During my stay in Japan, I was awed by the transportation system (and wished that one of our local authorities would experience it and get inspired). Granted, I preferred to stay with the local Circle buses that “rotated to the left” (or right) and guaranteed a pickup every 15 minutes or so. However, the trains were…well a force to be reckoned with. How they keep up with all those lines and stops and stations…I just dunno.

In my short stay there I still couldn’t figure out the difference between all those lines. We hopped on a blue line train where we had to switch trains at one of the stations and all of a sudden found ourselves on an absolutely “posh” train that, yes took us where we needed to go and in style, but wasn’t our connecting train. I still don’t know which train we got on. (Aside: In reference to “Condoms ala NYC Subways”, perhaps this one would’ve had a Superman condom dedicated to it. Gorgeous and there to save the day.)

Perhaps if I’m positive that had they named them the way this witty man described in his blog, I would’ve never lost my way. And just in case we ever do get a decent transportation system here, I propose we do the condom thing too.
